I have just completed a few playing rounds with students, and I wanted to give you an update of what I learned.... This has been a hard year on the course, greens are hard and at Eagle Point, fast! It is hard to keep a firm, accelerating stroke on these hard fast greens. Watch out for that decelerating stroke with body and or wrist movement. We all must commit to firm confident strokes. Believe me, your score will thank you! Use this drill to prevent deceleration on those pesky four footers… Take the putter back two inches and follow through four inches. This will ensure that you accelerate through the putt. Note you must use good rhythm in your putting stroke for this to work. There should be no jabbing or stabbing at the ball. WANT FEWER PUTTS??? Try this….

    KEEP IT LOW -

I rarely see players miss their putts on the high side and long. Do you realize that you will have another putt if you go low and short? Remember the object of the game….TO GET THE BALL IN THE HOLE IN THE FEWEST STROKES POSSIBLE!!! From now on, commit to missing your putts on the high side and pass the hole. At least now, it will have a chance to go in! Most players play less break on fast greens and when the ball comes to rest after your first putt 20 feet below the hole, never having a chance to go in, you stand there scratching your head. I challenge you to use “common sense”. If you do not give the putt a chance to go in, it never will! And I almost forgot…don't try suggesting you want an uphill putt for your next putt, the problem is there will now promise to be a next putt!
